My Favourite Nudes: Lip Edition

It's hard to find that perfect nude, right? But once you do... it becomes somewhat of a staple. Once you start showing off those nudes, people want to know the details. They want to see more. They want to try it out for themselves. Which is why I am introducing a brand spankin' new series on this blog: My Favourite Nudes. Today topic will be all about the lippies!

I am a firm believer that my favourite lip combo will look good on most skin tones. The best part might be that this look is under $15. Yes, we love a budget friendly beauty look. 2020, I am coming for you!

Before I go into detail on which products I use for My Favourite Nude lip combo, I have some house keeping rules. To get ANY perfect lip look, nude or not, we have to have the right base. Seeing as it is the middle of winter, this couldn't be more important. I personally have found a holy grail lip exfoliant that isn't really even supposed to be a lip exfoliant...? Pixi Glow Tonic is the only exfoliant that gives me the results I need. Naturally I have chapped, dry skin. Lips are no exception, unfortunately. But while I use this toner all over my face, I use this on my lips (when needed) before any product application. Just use a small section of your cotton pad that is damp with toner and wipe it across your pout. You will seriously experience the softest lips, ever. Bonus: this toner is actually amazing for your skin as well. I might be on my 6th bottle. Full size, too.

Next, please make sure your lip pencils are sharpened. I know, this is an annoying task. But make it easier on yourself by buying one of those 90's sharpeners that hold the shavings so you don't have to go huddle over a garbage can for more than you need to. Maybe it's just me, but it can take a hot minute to get that lip pencil get the perfect pointy tip. Here are the two products I use to achieve said Favourite Nude lip:

Buy the lip pencil here and the matte lip cream here.

The steps are really simple:

1. Using the pencil, start lining your lips outwards to cupid bow.

To get your lips to look like the bottom right corner, I simply use a lip brush to help spread the liner all over the lip. To get really specific, I blend the liner on the upper lip in a downward motion with the brush and the bottom lip in an upward motion so the darkest colour remains on the outer portion of my lips. The Milani formula is creamy enough that it easily blends out and using a lip brush will make the most out of the product.

2. Use the NYX lip cream as you normally would. Nothing special here because this product is just that good.

However, I do have ONE lasting little piece of advice. If you are anything like me, your lips can't wear matte looks for long periods of time without cracking and drying out. To prolong this look, use the same lip brush as before and apply your fave lip balm/mask/stick, whatever it may be. My current go-to is this cult favourite in grapefruit. Can you already guess what it is?

My Favourite Nude is fini! What are your must-have nude combos? Please share your secrets in the comments.
